Polypropylene is a low cost, chemical resistant plastic with excellent aesthetic qualities. Polypropylene is easy to weld using thermoplastic welding equipment and is often fabricated into water and chemical tanks. 

Typical thickness ranges for polypropylene plastic are from 0.062″ thick up to 4.0″ thick.

Polypropylene is available in both homopolymer and copolymer grades.  Homopolymer polypropylene is stronger and stiffer than copolymer.   Copolymer polypropylene is a bit softer, but it is tougher and more durable than homopolymer polypropylene. Copolymer polypropylene tends to have better stress crack resistance and low temperature toughness than homopolymer polypropylene.

Benefits of Polypropylene Plastic

Polypropylene (PP) is an economical material noted for its excellent chemical resistance in corrosive environments. It is a translucent material with excellent mechanical properties and has gradually replaced polyethylenes for many purposes.

PPH (Homopolymer polypropylene) offers a high strength to weight ratio and is stiffer and stronger than copolymer. This combined with good chemical resistance and weldability allows this material to be used in many corrosion-resistant structures.  Noted for its excellent chemical resistance in corrosive environments, the copolymer polypropylene variation provides excellent resistance to organic solvents, degreasing agents and electrolytic attack.
