Nylon Plastic
Nylon is a strong, stiff engineering plastic with outstanding bearing and wear properties. Nylon is frequently used to replace metal bearings and bushings, often eliminating the need for external lubrication.
Typical thickness ranges for nylon plastic are from 0.030″ thick up to 2.0″ thick.
Nylon is available in a variety of specialty formulations. Molybdenum disulphide-filled (MOS2 filled) and oil-filled nylons have enhanced wear properties, while heat-stabilized nylon will withstand higher operating temperatures. For enhanced strength and stiffness, nylon is also available in glass-filled grades. Most commonly used in our fabrication methods would be Nylon 6 or Nylon 6/6 sheet, bar and rod stock.
Die-Cut Products stocks a broad spectrum of plastics & foams for your custom fabrication needs. Need RoHS-compliant material? We offer that too!
Benefits of Nylon Plastic
Benefits of nylon include: reduction in part weight, less operating noise and decreased wear on mating parts. Nylon is one of the most widely used engineering thermoplastics, because it offers an excellent combination of mechanical performance (toughness, low coefficient of friction, and good abrasion resistance) and cost.
