Monel® is a family of nickel/copper alloys that offer greater corrosion and erosion resistance than nickel alone. Monel is particularly useful in sea water applications.
Inconel® materials belong to a family of nickel/chromium alloys that are non-magnetic and take corrosion resistance to elevated temperatures.
The Hastelloy® family of nickel/chromium/molybdenum alloys are ideal for use in highly aggressive chemical environments at elevated temperatures. Hastelloy is the registered trademark name of Haynes International. Most commonly used in fabrication at Die-Cut Products is Hastelloy C-276 alloy. However, we also have access to grades such as C-22, C-263, and others.
Die-Cut Products works with all the above materials in a broad spectrum of grades, types and tempers for your custom fabrication needs. All materials are available with full chemical and physical test reports right from the mill, providing melt and heat/lot data. Need DFARS-compliant material? We offer that too!
Benefits of Hastelloy®, Inconel® & Monel®
The primary benefit of the Hastelloy super alloys is that of effective survival under high temperature, high stress service in a moderately to severely corrosive, and/or erosion-prone environment, where more common and less expensive iron-based alloys would fail.
Monel is often used for kitchen sinks and in the frames of eyeglasses. Its corrosion-resistant characteristic makes it ideal for marine applications such as piping systems, pump impellers, trolling wire, and strainer baskets. Some alloys are completely non-magnetic and are used for anchor cable aboard minesweepers, housing magnetic field measurement equipment, and have applications in the oil drilling industry. Monel is typically much more expensive than stainless steel.
Inconel alloys possess several properties making them well suited for service in extreme environments. Inconel is very resistant to oxidation and corrosion, and it retains strength over a wide range of temperatures. This makes it particularly attractive in high temperature applications where aluminum and steel would “soften”.
Die-Cut Products stocks a variety of Hastelloy, Inconel, & Monel grades and tempers. If you have a specialty need for a grade or temper not listed here please let us know, and we’ll be happy to assist you.
