Fish paper (fishpaper) is the name for the electrical grade of vulcanized fiber. Fishpaper has unique properties, including light weight, and ease of forming and punching. Fishpaper is also unique because it is more resistant to heat and cold than comparable plastic materials.
Fishpaper applications include: electrical appliances, electrical instruments, washers, automotive, electrical insulation, electrical devices, gaskets, fuse tubes, circuit breakers, railroad track insulation, bushings for motor contacts, and lightning arresters.
Most fishpaper materials are provided certified to ASTM-D710 and MIL-I-695 F.
Benefits of Fish Paper
Slate gray in color, fishpaper provides the highest possible dielectric, tensile, and binding strength while remaining flexible. It is a strong material with a smooth finish that works well for cold-punching and die-cutting. Fishpaper can also be formed in certain conditions.
